Dear Friends,
K2 keeps rumbling.
NBCTV Re-broadcast:
Just yesterday NBC-TV announced that it is re-broadcasting the K2 special. It will air on February 17, at 2:30 p.m. Eastern. Check your local listings. And remember that it may be listed as “Jeep World of Adventure Sports.”
The show has been nominated for several Emmys including for the camerawork, editing and for a Broadband Emmy. NBC has been broadcasting this show online, a first for NBC Sports, at www.nbcsports.com/k2.
Thanks to NBC, millions have already seen the show.
Aura360, the producers of the Jeep series, has re-formatted the show into a DVD and it is currently available. You can purchase it HERE.
Sweepstakes:
The deadline for the sweepstakes is fast approaching. If you haven’t registered, please do so TODAY. Our sponsors have donated some great stuff.
Presentations:
On February 9th, Joel Shalowitz is hosting a fundraiser for Climb For Hope, at Johns Hopkins University. Bruce Normand and I will be on hand to share our side of the story. We know that the TV show left off at the summit, just as things got crazy. Join us that night to hear The Rest of the Story.
In April, I will be giving a series of talks in the Baltimore/DC region about the climb. Some dates are already inked: April 3 at University of Maryland, April 16, 17 and 23 at regional REI stores. Be certain to check the Shared Summits Website for more details (and be certain to buy your tickets in advance).
Expeditions:
In 2008, Don Bowie will be on Annapurna and Kanchenjunga. Bruce Normand will be climbing Distaghil Sar, a notorious 7885 meter tall peak in Pakistan, and I will be leading a team to Nanga Parbat, the world’s 9th tallest peak.
